Parents code of conduct As
a parent, you play a special role in contributing to the needs and development
of youngsters. Through
your encouragement and good example, you can help assure that all the boys and
girls learn good sportsmanship and self-discipline. In
Princeton Baseball, young people learn to work together, to sacrifice for the
good of the team, to enjoy winning and deal appropriately with defeat - all while
becoming physically fit and healthy. Best of all, they have fun. Support
your child Supporting
your child by giving encouragement and showing interest in their team is very
important. Help
your child work toward skill improvement and good sportsmanship in every game.
Teach your child that hard work and an honest effort are often more important
than victory - that way your child will always be a winner despite the outcome
of the game! Always
be positive Parents
serve as role models for their children. Become aware of this and work to be a
positive role model. Applaud good plays by your child’s team as well as good plays
by the opposing team. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse
from youth sports. Remember
that your child wants to have fun Remember
that your child is the one playing Princeton baseball, not you. It’s very important
to let children establish their own goals - to play the game for themselves. Take
care not to impose your own standards and goals on them. Children play for the
fun of playing. Reinforce
Positive behavior Positive
reinforcement is the best way to help your child achieve their goals and their
natural fear of failure. Nobody likes to make mistakes. If your child does make
one, remember it’s all part of learning, so encourage your child’s efforts and
point out the good things your child accomplished. Don’t
be a sideline coach or umpire Coaches
and umpires are usually parents just like you. They volunteer time to help make
your child’s baseball experiences a positive one. They need your support too.
That means refraining from coaching or umpiring from the sidelines. If you or
your child has questions or concerns please bring them to the attention of the
coach. If you are not satisfied or need additional guidance please seek out the
League President or a League officer. As a volunteer organization, there’s usually
always an opportunity for you to take your interest in coaching or umpiring to
the next level and become one yourself. Coaches
Code of Conduct Coaches
are role models and leaders for their teams. Actions and conduct of Coaches have
a major impact on how your players behave. All
Coach's are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
Coaches are expected to control their players and fans and work with the umpires
to defuse potential disagreements. Coaches
are not to engage in heated arguments with umpires, coaches or players. This type
of behavior will not be tolerated. Coaches
and Assistant Coach's are not permitted to smoke on or near the field. This includes
practices as well as games. You are setting an example for the children. Abuse
of this rule will result in disciplinary action from the League. Any
coach arguing with an Umpire will be immediately ejected Any
Coach ejected from a game will be suspended for an additional game by the league.
Before the Coach can return to his team he must appear before the League officers
to determine if additional action is required. Players
Code of Conduct: All
players are expected to show respect to players, coaches and umpires, both on
and off the field. Players
are not to engage in any arguments with other players, fans, coaches or umpires
during a game or on athletic field property. Players
shall respect all equipment and abuse of any equipment will not be tolerated.
Players will be held responsible for any equipment damaged due to abuse and face
possible suspension. Any
player ejected from a game for un-sportsman like conduct, including foul language,
fighting, dangerous play (determined by Coaches present) or abuse of equipment
will be suspended for a minimum of one game. The player will not be allowed to
return to play until he and his parents appear before the League officers to review
the incident and determine if additional action is to be taken.
Remember: good behavior doesn’t cost anything!!! However it does allow
the players and other teams to enjoy a game between kids just for the fun of it.
I
ACKNOWLEDGE I HAVE READ AND WILL COMPLY WITH THE PRINCETON BASEBALL CODE OF CONDUCT
FOR PARENTS, COACHES, PLAYERS.
